Autumn for life as we know it
Work in progress
Families are changing.
Global fertility rates are falling; and contemporary families are making different choices on having children compared to prior generations. These declining fertility rates have the potential for significant geopolitical, environmental, economic and social impacts.
Could we be witnessing a journey towards the demise of humankind?
Autumn For Life As We Know It presents a group of three varying, but similar, anthropomorphic family tree structures. Replication of DNA through the generations – but with each individual handcrafted glass bead having its own unique characteristics just as each human being is a unique, fragile yet strong, individual. The ‘family trees’ are presented in a kinetic, mobile form acknowledging the changing structure of families; and as a whimsical nod to the mobiles that entertain young children.
