My Dad had the most amazing blue eyes, which grew in intensity as he aged. 94 years old was made in the final months of my father’s life and little did I know that I was to lose him in his 94th year.
94 individual glass sculptures represent the years of my father’s life. A diagnosis of late onset Parkinson’s Disease in his 90th year, saw the last 4 years of his life become increasingly challenging.
The medium of glass was chosen for its properties of strength and resilience, paired with an underlying fragility – evocative of all human beings.
The sculptures were created in a kiln using half eggshells as a form to hold the glass in shape.
